Tutors can create one manual checkpoint and give it to several learners on the same programme at once. This saves you setting up the same checkpoint for each learner in a cohort.
You choose the programme, set up the checkpoint as you would for an individual learner, then select which learners receive it. Every learner you select can start the checkpoint straight away.
To create a checkpoint for a single learner from their profile, see Manual checkpoints.
Before you start
You need one of the checkpoint roles: Manage Checkpoint, Supervisor or Checkpoint Tutor.
Checkpoint must be enabled for the learners, either individually or through the Checkpoint token on their programme. See How to enable checkpoint and configure permissions.
You can only select learners whose programme status is Active or Onboarding. Learners who are On a Break or Completed are not shown.
You can only select learners you can already see in Aptem.
Which learners you can select
What you see on the learner selection step depends on your roles:
With the 'Tutor Console - View All in Assigned Group(s)' role: you can choose between My caseload and all learners in your assigned groups.
Without this role: you can only select learners on your own caseload, meaning learners you are primary or secondary tutor for.
Choose the programme
Use the menu on the left-hand side of your screen and select Checkpoint. The checkpoint programme summary opens.
-
Select "Create checkpoint" to start creating a checkpoint.
Choose the programme type the checkpoint is for. The list shows programmes you have visibility of.
If a checkpoint cannot be created for the programme you chose, a message explains why and you won't be able to continue. Choose a different programme or contact your administrator.
Set up the checkpoint
Enter a Checkpoint name. Use a descriptive name, as every learner you select will see it.
Set the Target number of theory-based questions per KSB, from 1 to 3.
Set the Target number of scenario-based questions per KSB, from 1 to 3.
Select the KSBs to include.
For onboarding programmes, you also choose the standard the checkpoint assesses against. The list shows standards available in your tenant that have checkpoint questions generated. Every learner you select is assessed against that one standard. If no standards are available, you won't be able to continue.
Select learners
The learner list shows eligible learners on the programme you chose.
-
Narrow the list if needed:
Use the Group filter to show learners in one or more of your groups.
Use the Programme status filter to show Active or Onboarding learners.
Use the search to find learners by learner name, employer name, group or programme status.
Select the learners who should receive the checkpoint. You must select at least one.
Filters and search work together, so the list only shows learners who match all of them. You can see which filters are applied, and clear them all in one action. If no learners match, a message tells you so and you can adjust or clear your filters.
Review and create
-
Check the summary. It shows what will be created and how many learners will receive it.
Select "Create checkpoint". A confirmation message appears.
The checkpoint is available to each learner straight away.
If the checkpoint could not be created for every learner you selected, a message tells you which learners received it.
