Overview
Tutors can manually create a checkpoint for an individual learner, choosing which knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) will be used to surface questions. This is useful for tailoring assessments to a learner’s progress or standard.
You can also create checkpoints for learners on onboarding programmes, as part of their initial assessment.
Before you start
-
Manual checkpoints are created from the learner’s profile.
-
Admins must enable Checkpoint for the learner- either at individual level or using the Checkpoint token in the onboarding or delivery programme.
-
For onboarding programmes, tutors must select a standard manually.
Manually create a checkpoint
1. Use the 'Learners' menu on the left and navigate to the learner profile of the individual learner.
2. On the learner profile, select the 'Checkpoint' tab.
3. To create a manual checkpoint, click 'Create Checkpoint' on the top-right of your screen.
4. In the New Checkpoint screen, complete the required fields:
-
Checkpoint name – give the checkpoint a descriptive name.
-
Target number of theory-based questions per KSB – minimum of 1, maximum of 3.
-
Target number of scenario-based questions per KSB – minimum of 1, maximum of 3.
-
KSBs – select the KSBs to include. These depend on the learner’s standard.
For onboarding programmes:
-
You will be prompted to select a standard. The list includes standards that:
-
Are available in your tenant (via delivery programme criteria sets).
-
Have checkpoint questions generated.
-
-
After selecting the standard, KSBs will become available.
5. Click the ‘Create Checkpoint’ button on the bottom-right of your screen.
Once a manual checkpoint is successfully created, it is immediately available for the learner to complete.
Notes
- Manual checkpoints cannot be edited once they have been created and are specific to each individual learner.
- In case of manual checkpoints, a scenario question will be added to the usual theory-based questions. On the reporting pages, learners, tutors and administrators will see a label that differentiates between a theory question and a scenario question.
- Checkpoints created for learners will not be listed on their profile, until the learner has completed the checkpoint test. Any checkpoints still waiting to be completed by the learner will not be displayed.
