Registering and Authenticating using Multi-factor authentication - Aptem console
Overview
Once Multi-factor authentication (MFA) has been enabled at a global or organisational level, users will be required to register their device for MFA on their next log-in.
Note that while other authenticator apps are also supported, this article describes how a user can authenticate their identity using the Microsoft Authenticator app.
Registration
1. Users will sign into their Aptem account as usual using their username and password.
2. Users will then be asked to install the Microsoft Authenticator APP to enable sign-in via MFA. Note that you could also use other authenticator apps.
3. After the download, users can link their app to their Aptem login by scanning the QR code shown on screen.
4. Once the connection to the Aptem account is made, the Authenticator app will display a 6-digit code as shown below. The code changes every 30 seconds, to ensure security.
5. Users should enter the 6 digit code currently displayed on their App into Aptem as shown.
6. If the code is accepted and the identity of the user has been confirmed, the user will be logged-in. In case of an error, the user will be asked to try the step again.
Authentication
1. Users will sign into their Aptem account as usual using their username and password.
2. Users will then be prompted to enter the current 6 digit code from their authenticator app and click Verify to process the request.
3. If the code is accepted and the identity of the user has been confirmed, the user will be logged-in. In case of an error, the user will be asked to try the step again.
