Authentication: Troubleshooting guide

Our organisation has SAML enabled, but a user is receiving a "username or password not recognised" message when attempting to log into Aptem.

This error message occurs when SAML Unique ID field is left blank:

Please ensure that the SAML Unique ID field located within the Learner details section is accurately populated and matches precisely with the corresponding email address within their designated SAML Identity Provider. This is crucial to guaranteeing a seamless authentication process.

I have an iPhone and I am unable to access my account via MFA (Multi Factor Authentication).

  1. In the authenticator app, click the “+” top right of the screen.
  2. Select Work or school account.
  3. Select Scan QR code.
  4. Scan the code on screen.

You will then be able to access your account.

When using SSO, will there be any issues if the learner’s username is changed? What value does Aptem pass for SSO?

There should be no ramifications for SSO users since their authentication relies on the email address stored in the SAML Unique ID field. For SSO authentication, SAML Unique ID is passed.
