ILR learning delivery monitoring codes
Available with Aptem Essentials and above.
Providers can now select two new learning delivery monitoring (LDM) codes when recording apprenticeship activity in the ILR:
- Code 403: Apprenticeship Unit Identifier, valid for learning delivery dates from 1 April 2026 to 31 July 2026
- Code 404: Apprenticeship unit 30% and onboarding milestone, valid from 1 April 2026 onwards
No changes are required to your submission process, UI labels, or existing learner records. Only the code selection list has been updated.
The new LDM codes are available in the learning delivery monitoring section of the ILR.
Updates and fixes
OData: incremental data sync for review responses and tasks
Available with Aptem Essentials and above.
Two OData feeds have been updated to support incremental data synchronisation.
Review responses: UpdatedDate field
Admins and data engineers using the Review Responses OData feed can now filter records by the new UpdatedDate field to retrieve only data that has changed since their last sync. Previously, the feed required filtering by the Date field; UpdatedDate replaces this and will be the preferred field going forward. The existing Date field will be deprecated in a future release. We recommend updating your integrations to use UpdatedDate where possible. The OData dictionary has been updated to reflect the new field.
Tasks: UpdatedDate field
The Tasks OData feed now also supports incremental sync via an UpdatedDate field. Admins and data engineers can use this to retrieve only updated task records rather than downloading the full table on each refresh.
Reviews: increased support comment character limit
Available with Aptem Essentials and above.
Tutors can now enter up to 1,500 characters in the Support Comment Description and Action to Support fields within reviews, up from the previous limit of 1,024 characters.
Marking aid
Marking aid: copy answer to clipboard
Available with Aptem Enterprise.
When reviewing a learner's submission in the marking aid, tutors can now copy a learner's answer to their clipboard with a single click. The copy button appears in the answer view and produces clean, plain text. Images are removed and maths is converted to standard notation, ready to paste into external tools such as plagiarism checkers. Each question's answer is copied individually.
Marking aid: collapsible feedback panel
The feedback scheme panel in the marking aid can now be collapsed to a compact banner at the side of the screen, freeing up more space to view the learner's answer. This is especially useful on smaller screens. Hover over the banner to reveal the feedback scheme on demand.
Marking aid: navigation improvements
The marking aid now has a cleaner, more stable layout that adapts across different screen sizes. Navigation controls sit in a dedicated row, separate from the feedback and answer areas, so adjusting the panel no longer disrupts the layout. Button labels shorten automatically on narrower screens.
Fixes
Office file downloads in Microsoft Edge: learners and admins using Microsoft Edge can now download Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) from evidence links in Aptem without receiving an unexpected file or redirect. This resolves a browser-specific issue where Edge's security behaviour was preventing the file from loading correctly.
We have validated the fix for the following document types:
- Learning plan components
- Evidence
- Learner onboarding documents
- Programme documents
- Learner documents
- Applications in Job Finder
- Manually uploaded CVs
- Compliance documents
- Placement agreements and wizard
ILR summary fields in the User Generic Report: for learners who have been moved onto an account programme, the User Generic Report now displays Programme Start Date, Planned End Date, Total Price (TNP sum), and other ILR summary fields correctly. These fields were previously showing as blank or £0 for some learners. We recommend re-running any existing reports to see the corrected values.
API documentation: endpoint address corrected. A typo in the public API documentation for the delete offline learning endpoint has been fixed. The path now correctly displays as:
/tenants/{tenant}/users/{userId}/offlinelearning/{aptemRef}.Upcoming
We're continuing to develop the following features. We'll share more details when they're closer to release.
Activity log
Activity log gives learners a dedicated way to record and categorise their learning hours. It is currently in early access; we're working to make it available more widely.
- Learners can log off-the-job training, English and maths, and additional hours directly from their learning plan.
- Tutors can review, approve, and reject logged activities with direct notifications.
The general availability of the activity log is now planned for July or August 2026. We will confirm the release date closer to the time.
Pass integration
We are continuing to develop Pass integration capability to support functional skills initial assessments within Aptem.
ILR 2026/27
We are updating Aptem Apprentice to meet the full ILR specification changes in version 1, including support for the new planned hours entity and the updated funding model for growth and skills. Given the complexity of these changes, we will be running a limited, actively supported release with a small number of customers in June before rolling out more widely. If you are interested in being part of that early release, please speak with your Customer Success Manager.
Apprenticeship units (phase 1)
We are delivering phase one of our apprenticeship units work, which focuses on removing barriers to using Aptem Apprentice in a fully compliant way. This release includes a new training plan and a set of core updates to support compliant programme delivery. Future phases will address friction points and further streamline the experience. If you'd like to know more, speak with your Customer Success Manager.
Apprenticeship funding rule changes
The revised apprenticeship funding rules for 2026/27 are currently in draft. We are actively tracking them so that, when the final rules are published in May, we can act quickly. Our planned work includes a new training plan with three-party completion sign-off, updated terminology, and knowledge, skills and behaviours displayed within it, as well as updates to the process automation trackers to correctly handle English and maths aim end dates. More detail will follow as the final rules are confirmed.
Employer access to the learning plan
Employers will be able to access their learners' learning plans and see a read-only version. This will support employers with their apprentices' journeys, giving them a clear overview of progress and where they can support their apprentices.
