Reviews

New 'Actions' section in Reviews

Tutors can now create and manage learner actions directly within reviews using the new Actions section available in Programme Builder. The section can be enabled through the Review token and functions like other review sections. It is available only in Console; if accessed in Classic, users will see a message indicating that the section is supported in Console only. To help distinguish between the two, the previous Action Plan/Targets section has been renamed to Action Plan/Targets (Classic).

Managing learner actions

Within the new Actions section, tutors can add, edit, complete, reopen, or delete learner actions as part of a review. Actions can be marked as Complete by ticking the box to the left of the action or set to 'Not required' using the three-dot menu.

When no actions are present, an empty state banner appears with a prompt to add one. Once the section is saved, actions can no longer be edited but can be deleted or reopened using the 'Reopen' option. Tutors can also cancel any unsaved changes before saving.

Changes made in the Actions section are automatically reflected across all reviews that have this section enabled within the same programme, ensuring consistency and a single source of truth for learner progress. Learners and employers currently see this section in read-only mode; future releases will add editing capabilities for them. If a learner progresses to a new programme, actions from the previous programme will not carry over.

This update provides a more efficient and consistent way for tutors to manage learner progress and accountability directly within reviews, reducing duplication and improving audit visibility.

Other updates and fixes

Functional Skills Assessment

'Opt out' exemption

Administrators can now record when a learner has been opted out of Functional Skills requirements by selecting 'Opt out' as an exemption reason. The new option is available only to administrators in the Functional Skills section of the learner profile (Classic) and in the Functional Skills review section (Console). Supporting evidence for the exemption is optional.

This change improves compliance accuracy and ILR data quality by clearly identifying learners who do not require Functional Skills, giving MI managers and compliance leads a transparent audit trail and reducing data-entry ambiguity.

Marking Aid

Maths optical character recognition (OCR) in the Rich Text Editor

When learners and tutors use the Rich Text Editor to import mathematical content from images, they can now apply OCR to convert equations into editable digital format. This enhancement allows handwritten or scanned maths content to be digitised quickly, saving time and improving workflow efficiency.

It may affect the accuracy of imported equations, and users should check handwriting clarity and image quality. Tables, figures, and matrices currently have limited support (to be improved in a future release).

Reporting

Compliance Dashboard – updated Group filter

When an administrator uses the Compliance Dashboard to review learner or group-level data, they can now use the updated Group filter to more accurately control which groups and learners are displayed.
This update improves visibility across multiple group hierarchies, ensuring users only see the groups they have access to.
It may impact reports and visualisations that rely on group selection, and users may need to adjust filters when reviewing compliance data.

Compliance Dashboard – updated KPI visualisations

When an administrator uses the Compliance Overview report to review compliance KPIs, they now see updated KPI visualisations aligned with the styling of other visuals across the dashboard.
These KPIs are now interactive, with detailed data tables allowing users to view the learners behind the aggregated metrics.

The Training Plan / Commitment Statement user filter has also been simplified to a Yes/No option, making it more intuitive and consistent across dashboards. This change enhances usability and provides easier access to underlying learner-level data. Users may need to refer to the detailed tables for full insights.

Compliance Dashboard – summary table and user filter enhancements

When an administrator uses the Caseowner Compliance report to review overall compliance metrics, they can now view KPI measures directly in the summary table, offering a clearer snapshot of performance.
The Training Plan / Commitment Statement user filter has also been simplified to a Yes/No option for consistency and ease of use.
This change improves data visibility and simplifies filtering. Users may need to adjust any saved filter selections when reviewing compliance data.

Upcoming features

Based on the work we have completed in the past feature sprint(s), we have the following features lined up for release in the near future.

Activity log

We're excited to announce that we have begun development on a brand-new off-the-job hours logging feature. Our goal is to provide a more intuitive and efficient way for apprentices to record all their learning hours, making it easier to track progress and ensure compliance. This functionality will also offer improved oversight and reporting for providers. We're actively engaging with customers at this point. Customers who wish to be involved with the upcoming beta program should reach out to their IC or CSM.

Marking aid

We are working on a feature that enables exercise cloning across components. This means administrators will save time by reusing existing content, feedback and rubrics, while preserving AI-driven learning for faster, smarter feedback.
