Overview
When using Aptem, you can use two types of SCORM assets:
- Content built directly in the system (e.g. text, form, video, flexible assets).
- Content built outside the system using zipped packages.
This article is intended to support the first format – content built in the system. If you want to upload content built outside the system, see: Upload external SCORM assets to Aptem.

Navigation
The SCORM Assets functionality allows you to create/manage your content in Aptem in an effective way. Follow these steps to proceed:
- Sign into your administrator account.
- Locate the tile called ‘SCORM Assets’.
- Once you have clicked the SCORM assets tile, this screen provides you with a list of your existing assets to be used in the SCORM Player. You can search for items by the filter or the tags option. The list below shows you the assets that have been created/uploaded
- To create an asset, click 'Create'.
Creating Assets
‘Create’ allows you to create an asset within Aptem.
- Click ‘Create’.
- Give your asset a name.
- The Asset Type gives you options to create your Asset:
- Text - Provides you with a box that can be used as a paragraph, please note the learners cannot type a response to your question if you use this item.
- Form - Allows you to add content as questions and lets you choose how your learners need to respond.
- Video - This functionality allows you to upload a video asset.
- LTI - Can be ignored.

Flexible - This item allows you to build more than one of the above items to create your asset, you can create this item using one or more of the following methods:
- Video
- HTML
- Audio
Please note that SCORM assets in Aptem can only be created or uploaded, they cannot be duplicated.
Creating a Text Asset:
- Give your asset a name.
- Select ‘Text’ from the Asset Type list.
- Give your asset a tag. Tags are ways of searching for your assets, you can use existing tags or create new ones.
- You can upload an image for the asset by clicking ‘Upload’ and navigating to your image.
- In the content box you can copy and paste from an external source, create your paragraph as well as using the options like Bold, Italic, Paragraph Alignment, Bullet Points and Numbering.
- Once finished, click ‘Create Asset’.
Creating a Form Asset:
- Give your asset a name.
- Select ‘Form’ from the Asset Type list.
- Give your asset a tag. Tags are ways of searching for your assets, you can use existing tags or create new ones.
- Click ‘Add Content’.
- You will see your first text/question box appear. Here you can create your text as an assignment/question for the first part of your content, you can copy and paste from an external source, create your assignment/question as well as using the options like Bold, Italic, Clean Formatting, Inserting a hyperlink Paragraph Alignment, Bullet Points, Numbering Images and Tables. The text/question boxes can also be used for paragraphs to separate sections of the work.
- In the content/question type box, you can decide how your learner responds:
- Textbox - Gives the learner an open text box so they can type their answers, when you select this, you will need to then confirm how many Text Boxes you require for your answer.
- Dropdown - Lets you provide a dropdown list for your learners to choose from.
- Checkbox - Allows the learner to tick a box based on the right answer.
- Label - Can be used for Paragraphs within your Form as learners do not have the option to respond to this item.
- Table - Allows a learner to answer in a table format after you provide the titles.
- Once you have created your first text/question, you can select ‘Add Content’ to add more.
- Once finished, click ‘Create Asset’.
Creating a Video Asset:
- Give your asset a name.
- Select ‘Video’ from the Asset Type list.
- Give your asset a tag. Tags are ways of searching for your assets, you can use existing tags or create new ones.
- If the video you are uploading has an embedded video link, you can paste into the ‘Embed Video’ section.
- ‘Upload’ allows you to upload a video from by navigating to the location on your machine/device.
- You need to give your video a description, and you also have options like Bold, Italic, Clean Formatting, Inserting a hyperlink Paragraph Alignment, Bullet Points, Numbering Images and Tables.
- Once finished, click ‘Create Asset’.
Creating a Flexible Asset:
Remember, this asset requires two or more delivery methods e.g. one audio file and HTML content.
- Give your asset a name.
- Select ‘Flexible’ from the Asset Type list.
- Give your asset a tag. Tags are ways of searching for your assets, you can use existing tags or create new ones.
- ‘Audio Content’ allows you to upload audio content that is already saved on your machine/device.
- ‘Embed Video’ If the video you are uploading has an embedded video link, you can paste into the ‘Embed Video’ section.
- ‘Upload’ allows you to upload a video from by navigating to the location on your machine/device.
- ‘HTML Content’ lets you upload your content that has been saved as HTML.
The HTML content must be in zipped format - to allow images, css and javascript to be included and must have index.html inside the zipped file.
- Once finished, click ‘Create Asset’.
