Skills radar: Troubleshooting guide

This guide explains common visibility, scoring and configuration issues related to Skills Radar and Competencies.

 

Visibility & access

Why is the ‘Skills Radar Report’ not appearing on the learner’s dashboard?

The Skills Radar Report will only appear on the Learner’s Dashboard when at least one competency has been fully assessed by the tutor. If no competencies have been assessed by the tutor, regardless of whether they have been assessed by the learner, the Skills Radar Report will not be visible on the learner’s dashboard. Additionally, competencies will only appear in the Skills Radar Report once they have been fully assessed by the tutor, even if they have been assessed by the learner.

To resolve this for any learner, please advise the learner’s tutor to assess the relevant competencies. Once all characteristics of a competency are assessed by the tutor, the Skills Radar report will be displayed in the dashboard.

Why would certain sections in a learner's Skills Radar appear greyed out or inaccessible to Managers/Employers?

If certain sections in a learner's Skills Radar appear greyed out or inaccessible to Managers/Employers, it's likely due to restricted access settings.

The access permissions for these sections may be set to 'view only' within the Reviews section of the program.

To allow Managers/Employers to edit and access these sections, you will need to modify the access settings within the Reviews section.

This can be done by changing the access level from 'can view' to 'can edit' for Employers, enabling them to make the necessary edits and access the specified areas in the learner's Skills Radar as shown below:

Skills radar data is missing from a learner account, why is this?

Please confirm if the Learner has been on multiple programmes. 

Skills Radar and Competency data is only visible for the Learner’s current programme. If this data, or the competencies were created on a previous programme, you will not be able to view them. 

In order to see these items, please create a sub-programme with the competencies attached, and apply the Learner to the programme to resolve this.

Please also note, that if a learner was assessed on a competency in the current programme, and that competency was later removed, the Skills Radar data and the Competency will also not be visible in the Learner record.

 

Can Employers edit the Skills Radar during onboarding?

No, Skills Radar in Onboarding is a one-off process to ascertain a learner's eligibility for a course and is only available for viewing from the Skills Radar section in Console.

To be able to assess the Skills Radar in an Onboarding programme or Delivery programme (Not onboarding as part of a delivery programme), please create a Review as shown below. This can be configured for Employers to view or edit.

 The below screen is from the Reviews token of the programme.

You can see the Skills Radar section is enabled for this Review type (Compliance Check). This can then be configured for the Employer to view/edit.

Behavioural / logic issues

Can a learner re-score Skills Radar?

If a learner has already completed the Skills Radar, they will not be able to re-score / amend what has already been submitted.

If a learner has been asked to re-score any of their Skills Radar, it will need to be done as part of a Review.

 

Where does the Skills Radar drilldown on the learner dashboard get its data from?

The skills radar score will only be plotted on the graph when a tutor completes all sections of a particular review, and the score shown will be an average of all the tutor's scores for that particular skills radar item. If a tutor does not complete one section of the skills radar within the review, it will not be shown on the graph. The score shown on the graph is the score awarded by the tutor.

The date range at the bottom of the graph will be determined by the most relevant frequency of the reviews, for example quarterly or monthly. The score range on the left-hand side of the graph will be determined by the highest possible score within the reviews included in the graph.

Is it possible to bulk edit Characteristics levels in Competencies?

The labels for each characteristic need to be edited individually. There is no way to bulk edit multiple characteristics.
