Overview
Activity log can be enabled directly within your tenant settings. This guide explains who can enable the feature, how to switch it on, and what to consider before making it available to learners.
To enable Activity log, you must have the Manage tenant settings permission in Aptem. No additional permissions are required for learners or tutors once the feature is enabled.
Activity Log is enabled at tenant level, with the option to control which programmes have access.
Before enabling the functionality
Before switching Activity log on, it’s important to be aware of a few key rules:
Programme lock-in
Once Activity log is enabled for a programme and at least one learner on that programme has recorded activity, the feature cannot be disabled for that programme.
This ensures:
Data consistency
Audit integrity
A clear, continuous record of learner activity
We recommend carefully considering which programmes to include—especially during early access or phased rollout.
Steps to enable Activity log
Go to Tenant Settings
Log in to Aptem and navigate to your tenant settings area.Open Activity log Configuration
Within tenant settings, you’ll see Activity log listed as an available option.
Select Configure.Enable the Feature
Click Enable to switch Activity log on for your tenant.Choose Programme Access
You can now decide how Activity log is rolled out:All programmes – every learner across all programmes will have access
Only selected programmes – choose specific programmes from the list
Save Your Settings
Once saved, Activity log becomes available to eligible learners and tutors.
After activation, Activity log will appear in the main navigation (blue bar) for users on enabled programmes.
After enabling Activity log
No additional permissions needed
Once enabled:
Learners automatically gain access to log activity
Tutors automatically gain access to review activity
No further role or permission configuration is required
When will learners see Activity log
Learners will only see Activity log if:
Their programme has been enabled, and
They are enrolled on that programme
As soon as these conditions are met, learners can begin logging activity straight away.
