Overview
This page describes how the Marking Aid feature offers a seamless submission and feedback process within the familiar Aptem interface, ensuring clarity and ease of use for Aptem Learners.
It describes a step-by-step guide to how Learners can submit exercises through a single interface via the Console interface within the Learning Plan.
Submitting Exercises
Learners can submit their exercises using the Marking Aid feature once enabled and configured within their programmes Learning Plan Components. To submit these exercises Learners can follow the following steps:
Navigate to the Learning Plan Component associated with Marking Aid
- Navigate to the relevant Learning Plan Component set up for Marking Aid exercises.
- Select the Learning Plan Component to open the side panel to view the details of the Learning Plan Component.
Adding your exercise
- Select the ‘Submit Evidence’ option in the side panel to open a user interface which details more information on the requirements of this.
- If Learning Plan Components are not associated with the Marking Aid feature through configuration the existing ‘Upload File’ and ‘Add Note’ options will remain.
- Select the ‘Begin’ option to navigate to add your exercise.
- Exercises allow text, images and maths formats to be entered.
- Files cannot currently be uploaded but you can copy and paste from files outside of Aptem where required.
- You can navigate through the different questions, where multiple exist.
-
'Save and Review' allows the exercise to be saved and edited at a later date before submitting it to your Tutor for marking.
- If you are not submitting the exercise at this time for your Tutor to review, and plan to come back to it, once ‘Save and Review’ has been selected, do not select ‘Submit’ yet and click on ‘Cancel’, at the bottom right-hand corner.
Submitting your submission
- Select ‘Submit’ to submit the exercise for marking.
- A confirmation modal will appear asking you to confirm your exercises. Selecting ‘Cancel’ will close the modal and ensure the exercise is not sent to your Tutor. Selecting ‘Yes’ will submit your exercise to your Tutor for marking.
- The existing Aptem interface will appear asking you to complete the following details relating to this component:
- Evidence Type.
- Completion Date.
- Does this count towards off-the-job hours?
- Off-the-job hours spent.
- Off-the-job hours type.
- If this component requires you to select the KSB criteria mapping you will be asked to complete this at this stage before pressing ‘Save’ which will navigate you back to the Learning Plan Component side panel where you will see the status has been updated to ‘Evidence Submitted’ ready for the Tutor to mark the exercise and add feedback.
- Learning Plan Components statuses remain as per existing functionality.
- Once an exercise has been submitted any amendments will need to be added as a new attempt on this Learning Plan Component, but this can only be done once the Tutor has reviewed and marked the submitted attempt.
- This should be taken into consideration before submitting the exercise. If you wish to return to make amendments, do not submit the exercise yet, but follow the steps above.
Viewing Feedback and Re-submission:
- Once your Tutor has marked your exercise you can navigate to the Learning Plan Component side panel and select the exercise to open it and view the comments and feedback left in line.
- If your exercise has been referred and your Tutor requires you to add further work to reach the agreed criteria you can submit a new submission, by selecting ‘New Attempt’ against this Learning Plan Component as per the steps above.
- This will create a new version of the submission, updating the status of the Learning plan Component, and allowing your Tutor to see your improved exercise.
