Checkpoint - Roles and Permissions
Administrator Roles and Permissions
‘Manage Checkpoint’ and 'Supervisor'
When the Checkpoint module is enabled by Aptem, all Admins with the “Supervisor” role will be automatically granted the “Manage Checkpoint” permission and will become ‘Checkpoint Managers’. All Administrators with the 'Supervisor' permission will have the authority to set Checkpoint configurations across programmes and manage roles for other Administrators and Learners.
‘Checkpoint Tutor’
Checkpoint Managers may then grant Tutor-level Admins the “Checkpoint Tutor” role. This gives Tutors the ability to administer Checkpoints for their assigned Learners by manually creating Checkpoints. This role also allows users to view the Checkpoint data across Standards, Programmes and Learners details they are associated with.
Assigning the Checkpoint Tutor Role
- On the Users tile, find the Tutor and click on the Edit (pencil) icon on the far-right in the corresponding row
- Use the arrows to assign the ‘Checkpoint Tutor’ role, then click 'Update'.

Learner role/permission
Granting learners access to Checkpoint
Checkpoint Managers can assign the “Allow access to Checkpoint” role via the Learners User profile – this grants the Learners access to Checkpoints. To grant the Learner this role:
- On the Users tile, find the Learner and click on the Edit (pencil) icon on the far-right in the corresponding row.
- In the user profile, at the bottom of the form, select the “Allow access to Checkpoint” checkbox and click 'Update'.
Notes
- Learners without this role will not be able to use any Checkpoint functionality.
- Only learners can take a Checkpoint.
- Checkpoints can only be assigned to Learners who have access to Aptem Console.
- Employer users won't have access to view any results pertaining to a Learner's Checkpoints.
